World Book Day 2016

To celebrate World Book Day we all dressed up as our favourite book characters and brought in books for our school library.

Mr Byrne also came in and shared one of Ellie's favourite books.

We even managed to rehearse for the play in our Book Day outfits.

All in all we had a "booktastic" day!

A big thank you to everyone who helped with outfits and props, as you can see,
we looked fantastic!

Healthy Teeth

As part of our Science topic, Animals including Humans, we have been learning about teeth.

Finley's dad and Charlotte's mum came in to talk about their jobs, and we found out lots about how to keep our teeth healthy.

We also investigated which liquids did the most damage to teeth.  Because we didn't have any real teeth to experiment with we used hard boiled eggs because the shell is similar to tooth enamel.

We found out that vinegar caused the most damage to the egg shell but, as we only ever consume a small amount of vinegar we decided that Pepsi was the most damaging to teeth.

Party time!

We had a wonderfully festive time at the Year 3 and 4 Christmas party on Monday.  We played Pass the Parcel, Musical Statues, Islands and Christmas Corners, and we did lots of dancing!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas - see you in the New Year!

Rainy, windy Castleshaw.

Today we went on our much anticipated visit to Castleshaw!  Despite some inclement weather (well, actually, it was all inclement!) we had a fabulous time!  We were all suitably dressed for the weather.

In the morning we played some team building games...

We also explored the assault course!

Even Mrs Cook had a go!

After lunch, we went on a long walk up to the site of the Roman Fort.  We learned lots, including why the Romans decided to build a fort at Castleshaw.

Many thanks to Mrs Lomas and Mrs Cook, who bravely accompanied us on our trip!

And we had a great time too, honestly!
