Investigating Digestion/Healthy Teeth Investigation

In Science we have been learning about teeth and the digestive system.

We carried out an investigation into what substances were most harmful to teeth using boiled eggs (because the shell is similar to tooth enamel).  We covered five eggs in toothpaste and put each one in either water, coke (diet and normal), milk or vinegar. Then we put them in the stock cupboard and left them for a week!
When we looked at them we found that the vinegar did the most damage (the shell became almost paper-like!) and the water did no damage at all.
We also made a model of the digestive system from plastic bags, tights and a cup!  We followed the progress of food (a banana and a Weetabix) from entering the mouth all the way to being deposited in the toilet (plastic cup!).  There was lots of squashing, squeezing and giggling!
